Herbal treatment for Acanthamoeba Keratitis

Acanthamoeba Keratitis

Acanthamoeba Keratitis simply means an ulcer in the cornea of the eye. Medically this disease is also known as bacterial Keratitis and fungal Keratitis. The pathogens responsible for this disease are viruses and bacteria’s. However, fungus infection is the most common. The obvious symptoms include “impaired vision, eye pain, Eye redness, White patch on the cornea, photophobia, watery eyes, eye burning, itching and discharge etc”. It has been observed that the usage of contact lenses is also responsible for bacterial Keratitis.  Incidentally, this disease is also known as corneal ulcer and herpes simplex keratitis ulcer; allergy from flora can also trigger this disease. However, to counteract the ailment a very potent herbal treatment is there.

Honey is very good for the eyes; as it has soothing propensities and it helps in reducing the inflammation of the eyes. The inflicted person can make an eye wash with two and a half teaspoons of honey with water. The concoction should be boiled and cooled before usage. The other alternative is to put honey directly into the affected eye. One week of this treatment; just before bedtime would suffice in resolving the symptoms of Acanthamoeba Keratitis. Just like an antidote for snake venom is prepared by snake venom itself; similarly honey (flora produce) is used as an herbal treatment for bacterial keratitis.
