The disease being talked about is a bacterial infection and is called diphtheria. It is an air borne disease and can be contracted if an infected person sneezes or coughs. Chest congestion, fever and sore throat are all signs of diphtheria. This disease needs timely treatment; otherwise it could lead to heart ailments and paralysis. If left untreated the pharynx and the nasal cavity can also be affected. The bacterium responsible for this is known by the name of Corynebacterium and it is aerobic. This disease causes the myelin sheaths to deteriorate; resulting in the loss of sensation. This disease was rampant in the days gone by; however due to vaccination it has been practically eradicated from developed nations. Nonetheless, it is still present in developing nations. In these developing countries; especially in the remoter parts vaccines are not available and so herbal treatment is the only resort.
Warburgia ugandensis leaves are a very good herbal treatment for Diphtheria, since the leaves have got antibacterial propensities. You would need to boil 15 leaves of this plant and boil in a cup measure of water for half an hour. Cool, strain and drink this extract for a week thrice daily and the symptoms of Diphtheria would be resolved within a week.
