The seeds of the sunflower are also very effective in treating Shigellosis. Boil 35g of these seeds in water for 45 mins and cool it; then add sugar to taste and drink it. Sugar needs to be added to lessen the acrid taste of the seeds. However, expecting mothers are advised not to take this treatment. The symptoms of Shigellosis are resolved in a week.
