Pressure sores or bed sores (decubitus) are abrasions and sores with inflammation. They occur because of pressure caused to a specific part of the body; especially where the bone protrudes. Edema or oedema is an inflammation of that part of the body from where fluids cannot be secreted. It but natural that in such an event the body starts to swell.
