Scrofula is a lymph node disease of the neck and it a form of tuberculosis. This disease is also known as tuberculous adenitis. It is an infectious disease and the infection is known as lymphadenitis. People which have low body resistance are the ones most vulnerable to this disease. The cause of this disease in adults is Mycobacterium tuberculosis and in a child it is nontuberculous mycobacteria. The symptoms include the appearance protrusions in the neck and tend to grow rapidly. Though, these protrusions are painless and is called cold abscess. They need medical attention and if it happens to be otherwise then these protrusions would turn into suppurating sores with a wet exterior. The bacteria causing Scrofula is airborne so anybody could contract the disease.

Though, there is a potent herbal treatment for this disease. You need to grind Magnetite, pound (Ci Shi) and Black Sesame in equal quantity. Then you would need to simmer fry the black berry sesame.
