Herbal treatment for Hoarseness

When the normal voice of a person turns to baritone and the speech becomes incoherent; then the condition is known as hoarseness. In this condition the pitch of the voice changes dramatically and the vocal cords get inflamed. As a result of all this breathing becomes difficult. There are many causes for such a happening; however, the most common ones are “Acute laryngitis, which usually occurs due to swelling from a common cold, upper respiratory tract viral infection, or irritation caused by excessive voice use such as screaming at a sporting event or rock concert”. The other causes could be “Allergies, thyroid problems, neurological disorders, trauma to the voice box, and occasionally, the normal menstrual cycle”. Many medications are available for this disease; however, herbal treatment is the safest resort.
Ginger and cinnamon are known to soothe the throat and so a blend of their powdered form is a very good herbal treatment for hoarseness. If you are inflicted with hoarseness; then you should imbibe a glass of this blend everyday, preferably with white wine and the symptoms of hoarseness would be resolved in a day or two. It is advisable to add a tinge of black pepper to the potion for better efficacy.
