Tinea Versicolor

Tinea Versicolor is a fungal infection of the skin and is also known as Pityriasis Versicolor. It occurs due to the overgrowth of yeast known as Malassezia furfur. The normal pigmentation of the texture of the skin suffers as an aftermath of this. The topography of the place is responsible for this fungal infection and humidity is the main cause of it. Not many people suffer from this ailment; say half a dozen or so out of every 100 individuals. This disease appears in spots and prevents that section of the skin from tanning and leaving the rest of the skin vulnerable to the ultra violet rays of the sun. It is a repulsive sight and needs medical attention and there is no better way to treat this ailment other than herbal treatment.

Margosa; know in the Indian vernacular as neem is a very potent herbal treatment for Tinea Versicolor. The juice of freshly plucked leaves needs to be applied to the area affected and the symptoms of Tinea Versicolor would fade away in a week. Wild olive roots are also a very effective herbal treatment for Tinea Versicolor. You would need to squeeze out the juice of 150Gms of the roots of this herb and make a paste with water. This needs to be applied to that part of the skin which is affected. Two weeks of this application would suffice in removing the visible symptoms of Tinea Versicolor.
